Two of the massive hits of this year's Edinburgh Festival Fringe are coming to Howden Park Centre this autumn.
First to arrive is the four star black comedy with the unlikely title "The Not-so-Fatal Death of Grandpa Fredo" which arrives on Saturday 11 September.
Inspired by an incredible true story, this new play puts from award winning Scottish company Vox Motus is very visual and energetic with sound effects, live music, video projections and an extraordinary "pop-up" set that turns a small shed into a whole town.
Reliance Falls is the home of a man called Fridtijof who has attempted to cryogenically freeze his grandfather?s body using dry ice. Joining the eccentric Fridtijof are a host of redneck stereotypes, all portrayed by four actors who capitalise on the intriguing, ridiculous march of the plot.
The Not-so-Fatal Death of Grandpa Fredo is a mad, bad, hilarious adventure that earned four stars in virtually every review of this year's Edinburgh Festival.
An even bigger festival hit was the children?s show "White" which has two performances at Howden Park Centre on Tuesday 9 November. Specially created to enthral very young children, "White" was awarded the Total Theatre Award for physical theatre as well as a Fringe First and a Herald Angel. White is a world full of birdsong and birdhouses, it gleams and dazzles and shines in the night. Two friends look after the birds and make sure the eggs stay safe. While the audience watches and helps the bright, ordered and white world changes as high up in the trees colour appears. First red... then yellow... then blue...
"The Not-so-Fatal Death of Grandpa Fredo" is at Howden Park Centre, Livingston on Saturday 11 September at 7.30pm. Tickets are £13 or £10 concession. White is on Tuesday 9 November at 10.30am and 1.30pm and all tickets are £5. Howden Park Centre Box Office is taking bookings now on 01506 777666.
