Carving Concrete - A Brief History of Livingston Skatepark

Our current project for Howden Connects also includes working with photographer and artist, Lisa Fleming, who is originally from West Calder and was part of the 'Life is for Livingston- 50 year of New Town Life' project.

Lisa collaborated with Chris Young, a graffiti artist, and Graham Tate a photographer, also from West Lothian. They be worked with local youth groups from the skateboarding community in West Lothian over the summer 2021. In partnership with West Lothian Council's Community Regeneration team, the project explores aspects of the skating culture, including the history of the Livingston skatepark, associated music and graffiti artwork.

The final exhibition, illustrating the evolution of the skatepark through time and new art works celebrating skate culture, is currently available for all to see within Howden Park Centre's Gallery.  Come along and visit, you won't be disappointed.
