The Dime Notes
The Dime Notes dig back into the blues-drenched sounds of clarinet-driven 1920's New Orleans jazz, unearthing a repertoire of stomps, blues, and forgotten gems of the era from musicians such as Jelly Roll Morton, Johnny Dodds, and Red Nichols.
The band are made up of hugely experienced musicians from the international jazz scene, led by the legendary Chris Barber's long-time clarinetist David Horniblow, along with Andrew Oliver (piano), Dave Kelbie (rhythm guitar) and Tom Wheatley (bass). The Dime Notes present a fresh take on a timeless style, emphasising the propulsive grooves and sultry melodies, which made early jazz revolutionary, controversial and wildly popular.
