All sorts of people in communities across West Lothian enjoy arts activities, opportunities and encounters delivered by Arts Development. This section of Arts Services is responsible for West Lothian's Public Arts Strategy to maintain and develop the wealth of public art in the district; reaching out to members of the community less likely to take part in arts such as older people, young people moving from care or the homeless; development of new arts events and festivals, often in partnership with other organisations. Arts Development also takes a lead role in the support of West Lothian's thriving voluntary arts sector.
Recent projects include:
Offbeat an arts-based club for young people in Craigshill, Livingston. This hugely successful project won the "Healthier" category in the 2010 "Celebrating Success" awards, making it one of the top five Council initiatives of the year.
Fuse Music (new window) a new on line forum for everyone involved in youth music in West Lothian to promote events, network and develop new opportunities.
Survivarts, a project aimed at everyone working with survivors of abuse to offer free access to a range of life affirming arts opportunities.
